I wrote this over 2 years ago and as I prayed for you today, I asked God what He wanted me to share in this Thrive email. This teaching came to mind. It has blessed me, and I pray it will bless you! Although the issues I face have changed these principles are still relevant.
As I was praying for my ministry, I received answers to my prayers, and I wanted to share them with you.
Here are some of my answers:
Walk by wisdom & faith
No fear allowed— immediately expose it and go forward in faith
Soar
In order to soar a plane needs a few things. It needs the FUEL to be filled up. A plane also needs a PILOT and he needs to be prepared.
In the same way if we want to soar, we need to be:
fueled: internally filled up with God's Word and prayer.
a prepared pilot: knowing where we are headed, knowing how we will get there, knowing and trusting the instruments God gave to guide us.
That's what we do as we trust in the Holy Spirit to guide us. God is in us. He will fill us and fulfill His plan for us individually. I love that His plans for us will be different, but God will lead each one of us in the direction we are called to go.
What does the plane need to actually LIFT?
There are two key components.
First is a downward pressure, which on an actual plane is the force of gravity.
The second thing that it needs to lift upward is thrust which is forward movement.
Let me first talk about my own downward pressure, which is comfort, and that's what keeps me on the ground. I just want to be comfortable, and life to be predictable and safe. But to soar we need to have thrust, which is our faith and our belief in God. So yes, I want that comfort, which is pushing me down, but I also want to please God. I want to do God's will and fulfill the plans He has for me. (Jeremiah 29:11)
So by FAITH I push against that desire for comfort, and I believe that God is leading me. He knows the details and leads me accordingly. Knowing He is the One to lift me up, gives me the confidence that I am able to RISE.
Let's talk about taxiing down the runway.
You don't get into the sky without first moving. You’ve got to first back out, back out of the place of comfort. You’ve got to start taxiing down the runway by actually moving.
When we taxi with faith, the wind begins to come under our sails. The wind is God's Spirit that empowers us to lift up. We need to be moving. We can't be sitting still yet expecting God to lift us. We need to be making progress by faith, one step in front of the other, and God will lift us up! He empowers us to fly high. He empowers us to soar above the clouds!
Isn't it an amazing gift we have been given to be able to soar?
Isaiah 40:30-31 (NIV)
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Friend, are you at a place where you wish to soar to the heights of the calling that God has for you? If so, I pray you have the courage to hold on to your faith and do the next right thing that God is calling you to.
Share with me what your next right thing is, I would love to be lifting you up.
Soar on wings like eagles,
Dawn
