Let Me Encourage You!

I know life can be really tough, and we all need a little encouragement now and then. That’s why I’m sharing this message with you - I hope it encourages you right where you are.

This year, I started to read a book called, Praying the Names of God for 52 weeks. Each week you can learn a different name for God. I was delighted to see the name for God on week one was Elohim.

Let me share my story with you. But first let me ask you - Have you ever heard God clearly and then doubt yourself?

Well, that is where I was. I felt certain that God had called me to minister to women. I also knew that it was going to begin with a deep dive into my heart and life for true transformation, which was desperately needed for me to have good things to give away to others. Week after week, God was cleansing my heart, one issue after another.

But this one Sunday, I will never forget. I was so filled with doubt. I doubted that God could bring anything good out of my life! I anxiously thought, I'm too messy for You to use me, Lord.

That is when the pastor gave us time to seek God at the altar. I basically ran and threw myself at the altar and I began to cry out to God. I told Him "God, I think I got it wrong. I don’t think I heard you correctly. I don’t see how you can use this messed up life of mine to help other women. I don't think I'm your girl, because I don't see how you can use me.” I literally poured my heart out to God and in the midst of my crying out to God - God spoke.

I clearly heard this word – Elohim.

I silenced myself to listen and again the word – Elohim.

Again – Elohim.

Three times I clearly heard the word Elohim. I did not know if it was even a word.  I asked my pastor and he said, Dawn, Elohim is a name for God. It means: God, Mighty Creator. It also means, Whatever He begins, He is faithful to complete.  Basically, if God said it, He will do it. How powerful!

God who created everything shared His name with me to encourage me. I believe He was reminding me that He is Almighty God who created me, called me and He will be faithful to complete what He began in me.

Friend this is my encouragement for you … the same God who created all, created YOU and He's faithful to complete what He began in you too. It is beautiful how our God is with us and walks with us.

I want to share Isaiah 41:9b-10 (NAS)

‘You are My servant, I have chosen you and not rejected you.  ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

I love that it says, “You are my servant, I have chosen you and not rejected you.”

Then it goes on to remind you that He is your God, so you do not have to fear. WHY? Because He is with you!

Whatever God has spoken to you, whatever hope you have of more freedom in one or more areas of your life, I pray you can hold on to Mighty God, your Creator, who created you, who has chosen you and not rejected you.

He tells you not to anxiously look around you. Again why? Because He is your God. That translation for God is Elohim. Your God who created everything and who created YOU is faithful to complete what He began.

I love this next part “I will strengthen you.” I don't know about you, but I've recently been feeling like I don't have enough time to do all the things I'm supposed to do, and it can feel overwhelming at times. So, I just started a new prayer. “God, give me Your strength. God strengthen me.”

And after I started praying that prayer, again I saw, “I will strengthen you.”

The Bible makes it clear that God will help us to do all that we are called to do, by using the word, surely. That word portrays confidence, like without a doubt. “Surely, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

So, no matter where you are in your journey with God, I want you to know that God is with you. He is close. He has created you. He has not rejected you. Matter of fact, He chose you. He is your God. Confidently walk with Him. He loves you!
