My Sin Met the Most High

Friend, be encouraged in what Christ has done for you. Today, I will share two things that impacted my heart. I pray they encourage you, too!

First, has it ever been hard to call Good Friday good? For me there are times when I’ve called it black Friday. When I think that my Lord and Savior went to the cross to die for me and atone for my sin- that feels heavy or dark. But on my way to Good Friday service, this sentence captured my heart,

“Good Friday is good because Sunday is on the way!”

Yes, Good Friday IS GOOD because it did not end on Friday. Resurrection Sunday was on the way!

Like Hebrews 12:2 (NIV) says of Jesus, “For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross.” It wasn't joy for the suffering. It was joy for the resurrection and life that would come through His sacrifice.

The second thing that impacted my heart came from a song, The Blood by Kingdom Culture. As I listened, this one sentence was illuminated.

“And my sin met the Most High.”

Have you ever thought about your sin meeting the Most High?

Even though I’ve sung that song again and again, this time I could imagine that when I put my faith in Jesus, in that moment my sin met the most high, and I was covered by His blood.

Thank God! Friday is good because Sunday is on the way.

We may feel like we're living in the darkness of Friday, the unknown, the wildly messy, and painful situations of this life, but Jesus came that we may have LIFE!

John 10:10 (NKJ)

I have come that they may have life and they may have it more abundantly.

I also love the Message version

John 10:10 (MSG)

I came so that they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.

Everything changed when we put our faith in Jesus! He has transformed our life! Let’s go back to that song: The Blood by Kingdom Culture Worship

Everything changed

It’s getting harder to recognize

The person I was

Before I encountered Christ

I don’t walk like I used to

I don’t talk like I used to

I’ve been washed from the inside

As a Christian isn’t it true, I don't even recognize the person I was before I encountered Christ. Right? I don't walk like I used to. I don't talk like I used to. I've been washed from the inside out. See, that's why Friday is good, because we have been transformed as we encountered Christ.

And then another part of that song says…

In the presence of God

Oh what my heart experienced

When my shame hit the wayside

And my sin met the Most High

I’ve been washed from the inside

Yes, in God’s presence, our heart can experience the power of our Lord and Savior’s love for us! His blood covers over all of our sin and shame. We are made whole and full in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Abundant life is from Christ Jesus by our faith in Him. He is in us by His Holy Spirit. May you embrace all that He has for you today. Don't carry around the weight of your past or its shame. The blood of Christ has washed it away.  Remember Good Friday is good because our sin met the Most High.

May we walk in the freedom that Jesus’ death provides.

Dawn

The song goes on to tell us it is not about our performance or striving for acceptance … it's only by the blood. It's never been about deserving or earning. It's a gift that's freely given.

Here is a link to watch it played live.
